01.About Me

My name is Jacob and I am a software engineer with an eagerness to learn. I am currently a student at Auburn University pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Software Engineering. I have a passion for full stack development and writing good code. My goal is to understand how modern applications are built, interacted with, and maintained.

To date, I have had the privilege of collaborating with various teams and engineers during my time at IS4S and throughout my 3 co-op terms at Adtran.

Software Engineer Co-Op @ Adtran

May 2023 - December 2024

Optimized AWS infrastructure by removing unused Lambda functions, reducing total Lambda functions by 32.8% which contributed to cost savings and a more streamlined serverless architecture.
Pioneered the development of an advanced TFT touchscreen router interface by developing C++ code for an Arduino, providing critical insights that guided strategic decision-making for future product development.
Accelerated teams in locating Jenkins jobs and their associated EC2 instances by creating a fully tested internal website using Python and JavaScript/HTML/CSS, supporting a smooth transition to a self-managed CI/CD environment.
Spearheaded the development of a customer-facing API service using Python, integrating with a DynamoDB database to provide streamlined information transfer and enhanced customer experience across multiple platforms.
Established and verified RADIUS server connectivity by building and configuring a testbed for RADIUS Relay, documenting the provisioning and verification steps, and developing Python tests.

Discord Bouncer

A Discord Bot that leverages Stripe payments for role assignment.

Users utilize the Discord Bouncer bot to grant roles and manage customer access to specific channels.

Azimuth Calculator

Calculate the daily solar azimuth and associated data for a specified period.

Users are able to generate a CSV file that includes the date, sunrise/sunset times, and sunrise/sunset azimuth angle.
